Boy Scouts of America Del Mar Va Council
The Boy Scouts of America is a values-based youth development organization that has been helping young people develop character, citizenship, and leadership skills for over a century. They believe that their program, which combines educational activities and lifelong values with fun, is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society. The BSA’s mission is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law, and their vision is to prepare every eligible youth in America to become a responsible, participating citizen and leader.

Interview with Robert Nakagawa Scout Executive at Boy Scouts of America Del-Mar-Va Council. Robert kicked this conversation off by telling us what they’ve been focusing on, which is getting more boys and girls into the program and yes girls can join as well! Last year the Boys Scouts increased their membership growth by 10 ½ percent. Some of the values of the Scouts are being loyal, brave and trustworthy and values and discipline aren’t the only thing the children gain in the scouts program. The children engage in physical fitness, knot tying, life saving and most importantly they learn leadership skills that prepare them for life. Robert stated that #DoMore24DE has been huge for the Scouts and gives them a bigger platform to get their message across to a broader audience versus just the scouting community. Interested?
