Character Breakdown
Daisy Sureloc LINK TO SIDES
She/her. A black/biracial 28-30 year old woman, the only one holding everything together, she is often kind and a deeply driven optimist who has a hard time saying no to people, rarely defeated but usually needs help. All she wants is to make everyone happy…which is totally possible, right?
Eric Sureloc LINK TO SIDES
He/him. A black/biracial 30-32 year old man, who could best be described as a theoretical physicist disguised as a high schooler, he carries himself with great respect and a sense of unearned pride, he’s an old soul who is constantly searching for the truth.
Gabby LINK TO SIDES
She/her. A 30 year old woman, who is the human embodiment of a Pumpkin Spice Latte.
Sweet, warm, and often basic. Her bubbly sweet exterior often masks the influencer mastermind beneath it. Loves her two cats; Bobby and JFK.
Milton LINK TO SIDES
He/Him. Mid-late 40’s, earnest and intense in an endearing way, looks like you’d expect a google search “Conspiracy Theorist” to look, but carries a deep sadness underneath. Lived closeted for most of his life, finally trying to figure himself out.
Mark LINK TO SIDES
He/him. Average 30 year old white guy, honest and helpful, often so caught up in his hobbies it has never occurred to him that people find him cute or endearing. Event Coordinator for the HdG Duck Decoy Museum in Maryland.
Polly LINK TO SIDES
She/Her/They. Somewhere between Taylor Swift and Ruby Rose, an awkward rebel who wouldn’t hurt a fly. The owner of BARK RUFFALO Dog Grooming. She loves her husband, but cannot help but think his theories might be causing damage to their business.
Paulie LINK TO SIDES
He/him. The lovechild of Jack Black and Mark Ruffalo – sincere and prepared but often focused on the wrong thing. Endlessly supportive of his wife, and often so distracted with ideas that he forgets what’s really important. Respects dogs so much because of his theories that it might even appear he’s afraid of them.
Lilly Sureloc LINK TO SIDES
She/Her. Late 50’s-60 something woman, incredibly supportive of her kids and often trying to keep the peace. She’s an award winning interior designer who always wants to help. She doesn’t believe in conspiracies but she supports her family.
Kent Sureloc LINK TO SIDES
He/him. Late 50’s-60 something Black man, a retired chessmaster who wants desperately for his kids to find and pursue a passion like he did. Awkward but kind, he’s a dad just trying to keep his family happy. He also doesn’t really believe in conspiracies but he IS afraid of ducks.
Tristen LINK TO SIDES
They/He. A wiry, funny, and skeptical 30 something event coordinator for the hotel.
Cassandra LINK TO SIDES
She/Her/They. 20-30. A moody, unbothered, and edgy dog-groomer with very expressive eyes.
Curtis LINK TO SIDES
He/him. 30-40. Handsome and smarmy, everything he says sounds like a bully but is actually always how he really feels, he might be just playing a part.
Accommodations:
Local Hires encouraged (talent living locally or able to provide own accommodations in northern Delaware, Philly / southeast Pennsylvania, southwest New Jersey, or northeast Maryland)
Housing provided for out of town talent who don’t have local accommodation options.
Self-Tape Request:
Instructions:
- Slate: Please state your name, where you’re located, and the roles you’re reading for
- Audition: See sides attached
- Additional: 30 seconds to 1 minute talking about any conspiracy theory that you either believe or are otherwise passionate about.
- Alternatively, improvise about a made up conspiracy theory and your thoughts on it
- Specs: Make sure you are filming horizontally, are lit from the front, and that your sound is clear and audible
- Sending: Please send a downloadable file (WeTransfer, Hightail, Dropbox, Vimeo, or Google Drive [ensure sharing permissions are updated]) to casting@kingcreative.com.
